Release of Version 1.3 of the Plant Health Management Standard - minor update - 1st July 2025
1st July 2025
From the 1st July 2025 there is a new version of the Plant Health Management Standard available. The Plant Health Management Standard version 1.3 is embedded within the and the Plant Healthy Certification Scheme Manual starting on page 7.
In this version, refinements have been made to several requirements. Of note is the addition of a new requirement - 8.4 - Detection of Notifiable Pests. This has been added to demonstrate that in the event of a plant pest incursion or outbreak, a clear corrective mechanism is in place to help prevent further breaches in biosecurity processes within an enterprise. Careful consideration has also been given to the question of scopes of certification. It is important that the various scopes of a business (relating to growing, selling, planting etc.) are appropriately audited and recorded on the certificate and in the directory. One new scope has been added: that of traders, as distinct from growers or retailers, where different requirements may apply in terms of Plant Passporting.
Existing members will be able to choose between which version of the Standard they are audited to for a three-month period from 1st July 2025 through to 30th September 2025. From the 1st October 2025 all audits will be conducted based on the requirements of the Plant Health Management Standard Version 1.3.
In addition to the minor updates of the Plant Health Management Standard requirements, limited changes have been made to the introductory section and the Scheme Rules in the Plant Healthy Certification Scheme Manual. All changes are listed on the Plant Healthy Certification Scheme Manual page on the Plant Healthy website. As part of this minor review the scheme templates have also been updated and added to and can be accessed under the resources section on the website.
The Trustees of Plant Healthy Limited would like to thank the Technical Advisory Group and the Plant Health Alliance for their work on updating and reviewing version 1.3 of the Standard and the associated resources.
